I recently had a conversation with a coffee aficionado (aka a coffee snob). He told me the secret to the perfect cup of coffee is the tiniest pinch of salt. I was surprised for a moment and then it made perfect sense. A pinch of salt on something sweet makes the flavor leap to life, why not in something like coffee, too?
According to the Bible we, too, should be a little salty. “Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.” Colossians 4:6 In The Sermon on the Mount Jesus told his followers they were “the salt of the earth.” Matthew 5:13
What if we added a tiny pinch of salt to our life with Christ? What if our InterVarsity chapters were a little saltier? I want to invite you to join us in exploring what it means to be “the salt of the earth” at Winter Conference 23.
Jeremy Hamilton, Area Ministry Director for North Dakota and South Dakota
DESCRIPTION: Winter Conference is a time of worship, study, training, and fun, all with Christ at the center. Students, staff, and alumni share teaching and leadership responsibilities. Byron Bible Camp has many great recreation opportunities (like black light dodgeball, 9 square in the air, game rooms, basketball, and more), but it's also a great place to just chill (or even do a little homework if you must).
OF SPECIAL NOTE: *This year Winter Conference is a 3-state event. We are delighted to have our friends from Trinity Bible College coming to lead worship again; and we are welcoming students and staff from Southern Minnesota chapters! *University of Sioux Falls chapter advisor, John Hiigel, PhD (Professor, Biblical Studies/Area Chair of Humanities) will be a featured workshop leader. *Alumni are welcome to join us! *Talk to your InterVarsity staff worker if you need a scholarship.
