When my family and I lived in Belgium we enjoyed an early Spring school vacation called Krokusvakantie (Crokus Holiday). The Crocus is a wonderful flower. In many places it is one of the first plants to grow in the Spring. Occasionally you can find Crocus flowers blooming in snow. In my Huron neighborhood I don’t see many crocuses, but boy it’s fun to be the first in the family to spot a robin newly returned from its southern migration.
Spring is a time we consider new life. What we see in the fields and in our backyards is kind of like a resurrection. There is a spiritual parallel. For some of you Lent is an important time. It helps many Christians prepare their hearts for the remembrance of the death of Jesus on the cross and the celebration of his resurrection.
The pandemic created a sort of winter experience for most of the world. We wondered if Spring would ever come. Would we see normal again and would it be a “new normal?” It’s time to experience a Spring. It’s time to experience a resurrection…in our hearts and on our campuses. I want to invite you to join us in exploring this theme at Winter Conference 22.
